The purchase of any pet should not be taken lightly. Please take time to consider the information listed below.
- Please visit www.tica.org and www.cfa.org and look up the "breed standard" for the Sphynx breed. This will help you recognize what features and qualities are expected in the breed.
****Keep in mind - TICA & CFA do not give or take points in cat shows for eye or coat(skin) color. Therefore, eye and coat coloring should be based on YOUR preference.
- Sphynx require weekly to monthly baths to wash the oil from their skin. A coated cat's hair absorbs the oil that emits from the skin.
- Sphynx will need regular ear cleanings due to the wax that accumulates in the ears.
- Sphynx is an INSIDE ONLY pet. They have no hair barrier to protect from the sun and other outdoor related elements.
- Remember, if you would be too cold inside your home without clothes on, then they are most likely cold as well.
- While some who are allergic to coated cats find a Sphynx doesn't upset their allergies, some people are still allergic to a hairless cat. Please determine this BEFORE you make a purchase.
